Frequently Asked Questions
"Can I physically see your products anywhere?"
We actuallyhave our own shop at WY Studios, in Stafford, UK that can be visited. Most of the things we make are usually on display and ready to browse and buy. To ensure our products stay in a pristine condition we operate a rather quaint, personal counter service, where one of our shop staff will be on hand to attend to you.
Our normal shop opening times are:
Wednesday - Friday 10:30 - 17:00
& Saturday 10:00 - 16:00
"I’m looking for an unusual and special gift. Do you make bespoke items to order?"
All of our products are handmade and can usually be made in any combination of our current colour range. We specialise in making bespoke and unusual products and enjoy creating custom solutions. If you have an idea please contact us or call into our shop and we will tell you very quickly if it is something we can help you with and what the cost would be.
"If I give you a design, will you make it for me?"
We never make versions of other people’s designs and generally, everything we make will have our distinctive look and feel. However, we are happy to provide a free consultation of what might be available for generic product catagories, such as watches, bags, belts or wallets. When all parties are happy to proceed, we will work with you to provide a unique solution that achieves your intent, but it will still retain our own stylistic design signature, logo/maker’s mark and ethos.
"Can you personalise your designs with a name or special message?"
All our designs are able to be personalised with names, monograms, or longer messages. The personalisation can simply be initials or we can produce fully customised options that might be multiple messages or sets of words.
Our personalisation options include modern san-serif text which is clear and simple, larger vintage lettering, and lettering made with antique book-binding tools. Tell us what you want and we’ll do our best to make it happen - there aren't many people that can offer the options we can.
"Do you run any lessons or run workshops?"
We do run workshops that people can attend to experience certain aspects of our work and design. There will usually be an opportunity to make small products and work with tools and materials of a certain theme and prices start from £80.00 - Details of these workshops are on the website, through our newsletter mailing list and via social media, so if this is something that interests you please sign up.
If you are looking for in-depth training to learn how to implement specific skills that will be for commercial or career purposes, then we are also able to provide in depth “One-to-One Maker Experience Days” at our shop/workshop too. It will depend on what you want to be trained in, but prices start from £490 per day, per person. To enquire about this please contact us.
"I want a career in art/creative industries. Do you provide ‘work experience’ opportunities?"
It can be difficult to make a start, or gain experience, in Art or the creative industries, but we try to encourage these career paths as much as we can, by offering advice mainly (if we can). However as a general policy, we are unable to provide work experience opportunities for students until at least higher education level - eg: post ‘A’ level/University. Any applications are considered on an individual basis, but as our work is highly specialised and requires a high level of specific creative skills, it is a rigorous process and not open to GCSE, ‘A” level or Foundation students.
